Fryers Put to Good Use at the State Fair of Texas
Tuesday, March 30th, 2010Frymaster fryers, as you know, hold a special place in our hearts over here at this particular fryer blog, and for good reason: they’re industry leaders in frying equipment! Whether it’s chicken, French fries, or tortilla chips you’re looking to serve, we truly believe we offer the best products around.
There’s another, more gut-level (groan) reason we love Frymaster fryers, though: we love fried food! If you share this affinity and you happen to hail from the Lone Star State like some of us do, you absolutely cannot miss the State Fair of Texas, with their annual Big Tex Choice Awards contest.
If you crave crunching on the crispy, golden batter of a chicken finger savor the piping-hot steam that wafts out of a fresh egg roll, the State Fair of Texas is your ticket. Essentially, if it can be battered and deep-fried, it will be available for mass consumption at the State Fair of Texas. Some foods available at last year’s fair include deep-fried peanuts, fried apple and peanut butter on a stick, which consists of slices of apple dipped in caramel, peanut butter, and butter (and subsequently and naturally fried), and, most spectacularly, Texas Bar-B-Que Boomerangs, which feature barbecued brisket stuffed in won tons…and, awesomely, deep-fried.
This fare, while remarkable, cannot compete with the Big Tex Choice Awards, which pits a number of remarkably novel (fried) foods against each other. Among last year’s entries were deep-fried butter, fried pecan pie, fried peanut butter cup macaroons, and, we kid you not, country-fried pork chips. Yes, chips.
Just writing about this is getting us itching to bust out the old Frymaster EH1721 and whip up some Texas-sized funnel cakes! We don’t know what they’re using to cook up that food, but we wouldn’t be surprised to learn that some of our restaurant equipment was involved.
